What are Ecopsychology, Ecotherapy, Psychotherapy and Ecopsychotherapy?

Ecopsychology is the field of study that focuses on the human relationship with nature. Interconnectedness and reciprocity between people and the more than human world are key themes in Ecopsychology.

Ecotherapy is any form of therapeutic activity that takes place within nature and/or includes natural elements.

Psychotherapy is mental health treatment provided by a clinical professional.

Ecopsychotherapy describes psychotherapy that includes a primary focus on healing the internal and external, reciprocal relationships between humans and the natural world.

What is a Licensed Psychologist?

A Licensed Psychologist is a mental health professional that has earned a doctorate in psychology and has passed a licensing exam. Licenses are issued on a state by state basis. Psychologists provide “talk therapy” and do not prescribe medication. (Psychiatrists are Medical Doctors who provide and manage medication treatments).

What is Shadow Work?

Shadow Work is a term that describes the process of looking into oneself to increase awareness of repressed and disavowed material. It is a process of making the unconscious-conscious so that one may life more fully, with authenticity and intention.
